Tiffaney Connelly Livestock Judging interview

Tiffaney Connelly Judging a pen of goats at a Judging clinic this year.
  1. I have had the opportunity to interview quite a few different people over the years, through my involvement is yearbook and journalism in high school and also through my minor in Ag communications. I have re order many of those interviews for the sake of note taking and fact checking, but I had never edited for submission purposes. I thought recording the interview with a recorder was interesting, I certainly had to be more mindful of the time constraint and how I would manage me ask g questions and prompting Tiffaney, knowing I would have to edit that all out.
  1. My audio editing experience was all but non existent before this project. I had never edited raw interview material like this before so it was certainly a new and challenging experience for me. I enjoyed learning how to cut audio tracks and piece together the clips to make a clear and concise audio file for the interview. It was somewhat difficult with the time constraints to get what I thought was the most important elements of the interview in the final 2 minutes cut though, so I had to draw the one in terms of content.
  2. I wanted to take a picture that related to my story, however it seemed kind of difficult to capture it, so I chose a picture I took of her Judging a set of breeding Does to show her in her element.
  3. What surprised me was how much time goes into editing a raw piece of audio, to get it ready for the final product. I had to fidget with the app I used to dit it, and it took some time for me to get comfortable with it and figure it out. I didn’t realize how much effort goes into a project like this.
  4. I would have ideally liked to have done my original plan of interviewing a local rancher about the recent cattle market collapse and how he sees them recovering and managing the aftermath. However, if this time is teaching anyone anything, it’s how to adapt and overcome, so I interviewed my twin sister instead and i think given the circumstances, it turned out much better than what I initially thought.
  5. Considering I am going into agriculture education and I will be teaching which opens up endless possibilities to use audio editing. I can utilize it when I am recording students practicing the FFA creed or extemporaneous speeches, I can use it when helping students record talent submissions to the state ffa contest board as well as the national ffa contest and convention board, just to name a few.
